Job Title: Rural Performing Arts Center Fellow

Location: Wellsboro, PA

Position Type: Full-Time Fellowship

 

About Us: The Deane Center for the Performing Arts is a vibrant cultural hub in the heart of Tioga County in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to providing a venue for programs and classes and offering exceptional arts and entertainment that nurture the diverse interests of Tioga County and the surrounding region for the benefit of the community and the performing arts.

 

Job Overview: As a full-time fellow at our Rural Performing Arts Center, you will play a key role in supporting the center's operations and programming initiatives. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of arts administration, event coordination, community engagement, and artistic development.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in organizing and coordinating performances, workshops, and special events, including direct responsibility for oversight of children’s programming including through our Deane Little Beans monthly enrichment events;

  • Collaborate with artists, performers, and community partners to develop engaging programming;

  • Support marketing and promotional efforts to increase awareness and attendance for center events, including direct responsibility for website maintenance and producing social media content;

  • Provide administrative support, including handling inquiries, maintaining records, and managing rental schedules;

  • Help manage facility logistics, including setup, breakdown, and maintenance of performance spaces;

  • Engage with visitors, volunteers, and stakeholders to ensure a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere;

  • Contribute to fundraising and development activities to support the center's sustainability and growth.

 

Qualifications:

  • Passion for the performing arts and a strong commitment to rural community development

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic team environment

  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and problem-solving mindset

  • Previous experience in arts administration, event planning, or related fields is preferred but not required

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support center events and activities

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience
